Dorothy R. Smith, 94, of Morton, IL, formerly of Mackinaw, died Monday August 23, 2010 at Rosewood Care Center of East Peoria.
Dorothy was born March 4, 1916 in Atlanta to Otto and Dorothea Fischer Komnick. She married Wesley M. Smith May 27, 1939 in Kahoka, MO. He preceded her in death March 3, 1989. Also preceding Dorothy in death were two sisters and one brother. |

Dorothy is survived by one daughter Karen (Wayne) Geiger of Morton, one son, Gary (Sharon) Smith of Deer Creek, five grandsons, Timm (DeAnn) Geiger, Kent (Brenda) Geiger, Gary (Michelle) Smith, Michael Smith, Matthew (Krista) Smith, 13 great grandchildren, one great-great grandson.
Dorothy was a homemaker. She was a member of the Deer Creek Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed.
Services will be 10:30 AM Friday August 27, 2010 at Haensel Funeral Home in Mackinaw. The Rev. Henry Miller will officiate. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday August 26, 2010 at Haensel Funeral Home. Burial will be at Mackinaw Township Cemetery. The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials may be made in memory of Dorothy to Deer Creek Baptist Church, 207 N. Main St. Deer Creek, IL, 61733.
