James P. “Red” McAllister, 89, of Minier, IL, passed away Wednesday January 18, 2012 in Connerton Florida.
Red was born October 25, 1922 in Altamont, MO, to James and Verna McAllister. He married Shirley Bray December 23, 1977. After 28 years, she preceded him in death Sept. 9, 2005. Also preceding Red in death were his parents, two brothers, Rob and Harold, two sisters, Christine and Leona.

Red is survived by three stepsons, Bill Bray, Jeff Bray, Joe Bray, two stepdaughters, Nancy Potter, Linda Schafer, one sister Gwendolyn Nelson of Farmington, Iowa.
Red served in the U.S. Army the 133rd Infantry, in the European theater and North Africa during WWII. Upon his return after the war, Red met August and Lula (Carey) Reiling and “adopted” them as his parents. In his adopted family, he is preceded in death by August and Geraldine Reiling, Calvin Reiling, Mildred and Alex “Ski” Haijdukiewicz, Jack and Wilma Brisbin, and Ray Farnsworth. He is survived by Goldie Imogene (Reiling) Farnsworth, Pat Harmon, Janell Bushong, Marcia Speciale, Ed Brisbin, and Jack Brisbin.
Services will be 11:00 AM Friday January 27, at Minier Christian Church. The Rev. Norv Condy will officiate. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday, January 26, at Minier Christian Church. Burial will be at Minier Cemetery. Haensel Funeral Home in Minier is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Minier Rescue Squad.
